Q: ARE WE NOT MEN? A: WE ARE DEVO.

 

 

Musical genius/social commentator Mark Mothersbaugh asked a question in 1978 that is strangely relevant today. The idea of gender throughout all history has been rather Newtonian: fixed and unchanging. The existence of those rare individuals who were something different didn’t change the principal. And then the Millenials happened. A handful of elites have openly advocated destroying traditional notions of sexuality and gender since the sixties. Finally, they got someone to listen.

 

Facebook now has 57 different gender categories. Gay marriage, formerly unthinkable since time began is now beautiful. While divorce rates are declining and the ideal of marriage is still high even among Millenials, the actual rate of marriage is the lowest in modern history. Despite volumes of research showing cohabitation has terrible outcomes, shacking up is the preferred arrangement. What the bleep happened? A kind of madness has fallen over the land.

 

The narrative pushed by the left is that gender dysphoria is common, natural, healthy and has an easy solution: living as the other gender (or no gender) or seeking permanent surgical change. The irony of the current zeitgeist is that homosexuality, a behavior, is fixed and unchangeable, while gender or more accurately sex, which science says comes from chromosomes (a real thing!), should be based on feelings.

 

So what does science actually say about transgenders? They are only about .3% of the population. In one survey, 61% of transgenders had medically transitioned (hormones and such) and 33% surgically. Interestingly, 14% of trans women and 72% of trans men said they don't ever want full genital construction surgery. Far from being a group of otherwise healthy individuals, transgenders often have a host of comorbid psychiatric problems. A staggering 42% have attempted suicide. A small number of studies show maybe as low as 3% but possibly up to 20% regret surgical transition. Transgender Walt Heyer has documented numerous stories of regret and surgical detransition. One literature review showed that operations do tend to relieve gender dysphoria but post-op transsexuals continue to have much higher rates of psychiatric issues such as depression, psychotic symptoms, substance abuse, and suicidality. Overall functioning seems little changed for many. Almost a fifth attempt suicide post surgery.

 

Digging into the minutiae of transgender research is interesting but it misses the point. Of course, we should do our best to treat these rare individuals with compassion and respect as human beings. They have a terrible burden the rest of us cannot understand. But the real issue is not these people, it is something else entirely. 

 

Racism has largely been banished to the ugly fringes of society. We have free school, plentiful, cheap food and a free, open society where barriers against success are lower than at any point in civilization’s history. But every generation needs a cause, an Emmett Till to fight for. Today’s proxies are transgenders. And who are the dog-siccing, fire hose blasting Bull Connors? 11 year old girls who feel uncomfortable showering with penis-havers. Bigots.

 

Millenials, most of whom are just dumb, ignorant kids, (you know, like every generation) seem to hold a simple moral code: 1. Don’t hate people. 2. Stand up for those once oppressed by our awful parents. So when the elites hand them a category of people to fight for, the kids (and those who just never grew up) take up the cause. Simple as that. What’s behind it, however, is a little darker.

 

In “Marxist Feminism’s Ruined Lives”, Mallory Millett describes her involvement in the creation of a radical feminist organization with great influence. In the home of founder Lila Karp in 1969, they started the meeting with this chant:

 

"Why are we here today?" she asked.
"To make revolution," they answered.
"What kind of revolution?" she replied.
"The Cultural Revolution," they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?" she demanded.
"By destroying the American family!" they answered.
"How do we destroy the family?" she came back.
"By destroying the American Patriarch," they cried exuberantly.
"And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
"By taking away his power!"
"How do we do that?"
"By destroying monogamy!" they shouted.
"How can we destroy monogamy?"

Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears.  Was I on planet earth?  Who were these people?

"By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!" they resounded.

They proceeded with a long discussion on how to advance these goals by establishing The National Organization of Women.  It was clear they desired nothing less than the utter deconstruction of Western society. The upshot was that the only way to do this was "to invade every American institution.  Everyone must be permeated with ‘The Revolution’": The media, the educational system, universities, high schools, K-12, school boards, etc.; then, the judiciary, the legislatures, the executive branches and even the library system.

 

Mallory’s sister Kate was called by “Time” magazine “the Karl Marx of the Women's Movement.”  Her book laid out a course in Marxism 101 for women.  Her thesis: The family is a den of slavery with the man as the Bourgeoisie and the woman and children as the Proletariat. Kate Millett’s writings still grace women’s studies courses across the land.

The question everyone should be asking is ‘why is this such a big frigging deal now?’ Was there an epidemic of high-voiced men and women with abnormally large Adam’s apples getting beat up in bathrooms? No. So why should the desires of a minute number of individuals compel the destruction of a whole historical paradigm?

 

Ever since a scantily clad Goddess of Reason defiled Notre Dame and paraded through Paris during the French Revolution, utopians have conspired to tear it all down and create a new man in their image. Mao Zedong once said half of humanity may have to die for the glory of socialism. Both he and Fidel Castro begged the Soviets to launch nuclear missiles. When leftists talk of revolution, they mean it. Destroying gender itself is just another box to check on the way to a new heaven and earth.

 

Despite every utopian experiment in history ending in blood and fire, these true believers know they will get it right this time. Of these types, German writer Johann Goethe once said that the only thing they truly love is their own opinions. So while the “enlightened” masses have blindly jumped on the latest bandwagon to protect an oppressed group from the “bumpkin” masses, the real players who manufacture these outrages du jour are after something bigger: Everything.
